What is Ikebana ?
“Ikebana” is one of Japanese traditional art and it is to arrange flowering plants, tree branches, water, air and your soul in a vase
The origin of Ikebana is said that the Buddhist monk offered flowers before a mortuary tablet.
It has also been told that around the 14th~15th century(Muromachi Era), The shoin architectures,
Japanese traditional garden, Renka poem and Noh constructed the base of Ikebana.
Also during the Momoyama Era (15th~16th century) the establishment of tea ceremoy had supported the establishment of Ikebana as well.
This is what I think about Ikebana. I would be happy if this could help you to touch “Ikebana”

Sensibility
Due to the fact that you will use natural materials, it would be great if you have some knowledge of what you are dealing with and how they should be treated. I like to take things “easy”. Having flowers around you and look them up, then feel happy is my main goal of Ikebana. Don’t you think it is wonderful to be able to view something pretty and feel, accept and appreciate these beautiful things in your heart ? I believe that everyone has unique senses. In another words, Take your opportunity to open your new world !

Sensei Sue‘s knowledge of the Japanese art form called Ikebana is very impressive. It has become a passion of mine for over 3 years now. With each class I get the opportunity to learn about the different types of flowers in Japan and how to arrange each one in the most beautiful of ways.

Ikebana is more than just beautiful flowers in a vase. It’s about enjoying the beauty of Japanese flowers while learning about the history of Ikebana and how it has been preserved. With each class I get the opportunity to bring home an arrangement that last 1 to 2 weeks and my home smells good. Love love love my classes. I look forward to it each week.
